The Gulf

This wonderous flickering of the waves, a dance.
You watch it with your eyes, and I with mine, but for a moment we can experience the other’s ecstacy as if it is our own.
Rich and enriching.
Thank you for the lens with which you allow me to see a little bit of your world. You offer me a taste of your imagination, a look inside your heart that peers at beauty.
My heart is filled with gratitude. Not only did I see the dance from my own eyes, but was lucky enough to have had the chance to catch a glimpse when you offered me your gaze.
In that moment, the gulf is a calm and friendly sea. So complete with magic and wonder, mystery and offerings, rose petals on my skin.
But at times there is a storm.
And the gulf is an unbearable distance, this vast sea of images, sounds, taste and experience. It is that which separates us. This gulf between us.
The stormy sea rolls and roars, tripping me off my feet, off balance, off course, and I am falling.
You stand away, you stay apart. The gulf has no bridge, it has no canoe with which to paddle.
And I am drowning.
But I learned how to swim some time ago. And I know how to conserve my energy in the storm.
I remember that it too will pass, a moment, a reminder, to continue to hone my attention on that which is Abundance.
