Healing Arts

I don’t know where I start or you begin… I see colors and hear the sounds.

They are me and I them,  painting my vision, vivid and bright.

The contrast makes that what is, the difference between darkness and light.

Now I move my hands and feet, and discover they are my own.

My watering eyes and weeping wails are messages to you from me.

That hunger is mine and the milk is you, and that hollering emits the shrieks.

Slowly my thoughts take shape and form, and words are codes and symbols.

Deciphering the world, they are the currency with which I trade my experience for yours.

The words weave like cloth, form patterns and designs and construct a world within.

This world is mine, distinct from yours and here separateness begins.

Notice me, I am here.

Look my way, hold your glance.

Pause your speech when I take my turn to speak.

Let me near when I nudge closer.

Listen to my face, not just my tongue.

Hear me with your heart, don’t just nod your head.

Witness me.

I may not be glamorous.  But I know majesty.

I may not be pretty, but beauty lives inside.

I may not have the right words, but I understand what you say.

I would if I could, offer you the world.

But in this moment, here, I offer you myself.

I witness you.
